1) Potassium permanganate :-

Preparation:

Potassium permanganate is prepared by reacting potassium hydroxide with manganese dioxide in the presence of air.

Properties:

Potassium permanganate is a deep purple crystalline solid that dissolves in water to give a deep purple solution. It is a strong oxidizing agent, and its solutions are used as disinfectants and as a laboratory reagent for oxidation reactions.

Medicinal uses:

Potassium permanganate solutions are used in the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and fungal infections. It is also used to treat fish diseases and as a wound disinfectant.

2) Copper sulfate :-

Preparation:

Copper sulfate can be prepared by reacting copper oxide or copper metal with sulfuric acid.

Properties:

Copper sulfate is a blue crystalline solid that dissolves in water to give a blue solution. It is a strong oxidizing agent and can be toxic in large quantities. Copper sulfate is used as a laboratory reagent, a fungicide, and a pesticide.

Medicinal uses:

Copper sulfate is used in the treatment of some fungal infections, and it can also be used as an emetic to induce vomiting in cases of poisoning.

3) Ferrous gluconate :-

Preparation:

Ferrous gluconate is prepared by reacting ferrous sulfate with gluconic acid.

Properties:

Ferrous gluconate is a white or pale yellow powder that is soluble in water. It is an iron supplement that is used to treat iron deficiency anemia.

Medicinal uses:

Ferrous gluconate is used to treat iron deficiency anemia, which is a condition that occurs when the body does not have enough iron to produce hemoglobin.

4) Zinc sulphate :-

Preparation:

Zinc sulfate can be prepared by reacting zinc with sulfuric acid.

Properties:

Zinc sulfate is a white crystalline solid that dissolves in water to give a clear solution. It is used as a laboratory reagent, a fungicide, and a pesticide.

Medicinal uses:

Zinc sulfate is used in the treatment of zinc deficiency, which can cause growth retardation, immune dysfunction, and other health problems. It is also used to treat some skin conditions and as an astringent in some eye drops.

5) Sodium thiosulfate :-

Preparation:

Sodium thiosulfate is prepared by reacting sodium sulfite with sulfur in the presence of an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide or chlorine.

Properties:

Sodium thiosulfate is a white crystalline powder that dissolves in water to give a clear solution. It is used as a laboratory reagent, a photographic fixing agent, and a water conditioner.

Medicinal uses:

Sodium thiosulfate is used in the treatment of cyanide poisoning, which can occur from exposure to smoke from burning plastics or from some industrial processes. It is also used in the treatment of some skin conditions and as an antifungal agent.
